Raised in Kincardine, Ontario—a small town of 6,000 people on the shores of Lake Huron—AJ’s upbringing as a closeted queer kid in a rural setting has deeply influenced his advocacy work.

His diverse educational background has equipped him to navigate complex social and political landscapes, advocating for equality and inclusion across various sectors.

Since December 2022, he  works as the Manager, Communcations at Egale Canada, the country’s leading organization dedicated to advancing the rights and inclusion of 2SLGBTQI people.

Now living in Canada’s capital Ottawa, AJ remains passionate about social and community issues such as public infrastructure, public transportation, youth and education, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare.
