Egale Canada’s Rainbow Action Hub

Overview

Through his role as Manager, Communications at Egale Canada, AJ leads the Rainbow Action Hub from planning and development through launch, delivery, and evaluation. The Hub was created as a national resource centre to support organizations, educators, advocates, and community leaders in understanding and responding to rising anti-2SLGBTQI hate across Canada.

The Rainbow Action Hub centralizes practical, evidence-informed tools that help users navigate misinformation, strengthen advocacy and safety efforts, and communicate effectively in increasingly hostile environments. Designed with accessibility and reach in mind, the Hub serves both Canadian and international audiences, supporting action at the community, organizational, and systems levels.

As of January 1, 2026, the Rainbow Action Hub includes 42 resources, with 29 available in French, and has been accessed more than 41,000 times. Users have engaged with the Hub from every province and territory in Canada, as well as 65 countries worldwide, demonstrating its relevance well beyond its original scope.

Scope of Work

AJ leads all aspects of the Rainbow Action Hub, including:

• Strategic planning and resource development
• Content strategy and editorial oversight
• Education development and delivery
• Evaluation, performance tracking, and reporting

Resources within the Hub focus on:

• Mis-, dis-, and malinformation
• Media and messaging
• Advocacy and safety

Together, these materials equip users with practical guidance to respond to hate, support 2SLGBTQI communities, and advance inclusive public discourse.

Education & Capacity Building

As part of the Rainbow Action Hub initiative, AJ developed and delivered four education workshops focused on understanding and combating anti-2SLGBTQI hate. These sessions translate research and advocacy principles into practical, sector-specific tools and have been delivered more than 15 times (as of January 2026) to organizations across Canada.

• Advocacy Communications to Combat Anti-2SLGBTQI Hate

These workshops support organizations across sectors—including education, retail, community services, and advocacy—to respond proactively to hate while centring safety, resilience, and community care.

Impact of the Hub

The Rainbow Action Hub has become a nationally recognized, widely accessed platform supporting coordinated responses to anti-2SLGBTQI hate. By pairing practical resources with targeted education, the initiative strengthens organizational capacity, improves public understanding, and contributes to safer, more informed advocacy across Canada and beyond.
